Lahore Overview

Intoxicating and incredibly diverse, Lahore is an artistic and religious melting pot. Featuring a mix of incredible architecture, you'll see fading remnants of the British Raj rule alongside impressively formidable Mughal monuments. One unmissable attraction for many tourists is a day at the cricket. Home to former cricket great and politician Imran Khan, the city often serves as the venue for international matches, famed for its wild spectators.

On the one hand a historic, cultural and intellectual hub, Lahore is, on the other, a bustling contemporary metropolis with a distinct style. Popular tourist sites include the stunning Lahore Fort, distinctive Badshahi Mosque and oasis of calm Shalimar Gardens. Popular holidays to Lahore usually include flights to Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE) and often combine the city with either onward travel to India or to Pakistan's famous stretch of the Silk Road trade route - the epic Karakoram highway.

Best Time to Visit Lahore

In the winter months, Lahore is covered in a thick blanket of snow. In the peak of summer, temperatures can be unbearably high, forcing businesses to close in the heat. The best time to visit Lahore is therefore in the months where the temperature is more comfortable. In March, April, September and October the temperatures are generally between 20°C and 30°C, allowing you to explore the city at your leisure after arriving on one of the many flights to Lahore.

The last Friday of March sees the city light up with the Festival of Lamps outside Shalimar Gardens. There's also the stunning World Performing Arts Festival usually held in November every year. Finally, the month of Ramadan (usually between October and December each year) is a spectacular celebration in Lahore, where the city comes alive after dark. Direct return London to Lahore flights in mid-October are particularly affordable, with plenty of cheap flights to Lahore available to book tickets for throughout the year.
